The Philanthropy Network Manager will facilitate the building of a strong network of Latino-led, Latino-serving organizations and individuals through a crucial leadership role in HIP’s overall grantmaking and community-building work in the southern U.S. The Philanthropy Network Manager will lead HIP’s current statewide program in North Carolina and identify new opportunities to expand our programmatic partnerships and investments throughout the southern U.S., including coordinating funder engagement, grantmaking, technical assistance, and membership activities. The Philanthropy Network Manager will be responsible for fostering relationships with key grassroots, institutional, and funder stakeholders and creatively identify opportunities for partner collaboration and investment with the ultimate goal of building strength, power, and health of Latino communities in the South.
The Philanthropy Network Manager may be based out of Virginia, or preferrably out of North Carolina or Georgia.
The Philanthropy Network Manager will report to the Director of U.S. Programs and Operations and will work in collaboration with HIP’s programs and communications staff.
This is a 40 hour per week position with the expectation of 25% travel locally, regionally, and nationally.
Strategy Planning and Program Delivery (45%)
● Lead the design and implementation of strategic direction and goals for the South
● Conduct outreach and engagement to identify and cultivate relationships with current and prospective key partners: local coalitions, organizations, funders, and other important stakeholders
● Identify opportunities for network development throughout the South and facilitate the planning of joint activities, actions, or projects of local and national network members and partners
● Coordinate communication among network members and partner organizations, organize convenings and workshops, and support external communication of lessons learned and progress achieved by networks
● Identify and engage new HIP members and Next Generation Latino Leaders in the South
● Identify emerging issues and trends facing Latino communities and remain in close communication with Latino-serving community groups and coalitions within under-resourced areas
Fundraising, Grantmaking, and Reporting (35%)
● Prepare proposals for funding consideration and report and communicate effectively with donors as necessary
● Serve as key liaison with funding partners, including local committee of funders in North Carolina and as they are developed in other locations
● Serve as HIP’s representative for grantmaking activities in the region, including the execution of applicant information sessions, grantee convenings, and other grantee-focused technical assistance activities, funder briefings, and presentations
● Develop and implement grantmaking strategies through programmatic initiatives developed in close partnership with networks and other key stakeholders
● Develop and oversee capacity-building programs for networks of grantees and other local partners
● Support the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems for programs in the South in the interest of strategizing, measuring, and achieving meaningful impact
Program Oversight (20%)
● Develop and execute a clear and comprehensive annual work plan
● Oversee execution of HIP program budgets
● Work with the HIP Programs Team to play a leading role in the development and implementation of future focused initiatives to extend regional reach and impact
● Participate as a member of HIP’s program and development teams, utilizing a collaborative style to achieve programmatic and fundraising goals
● Participate in staff and membership meetings or committees as needed
● Provide active, creative cross-functional thinking and ideas
● Support HIP’s mission, vision, and strategic goals in other areas that arise
● Proven track record of successful facilitation and program implementation and relationship management of multi-stakeholder initiatives, particularly with networks of grassroots groups and organizations
● Minimum five years or more experience in strategic grantmaking and/or nonprofit management
● Demonstrated fundraising experience, particularly in the area of foundation and corporate partnerships
● Deep understanding of the South’s political and cultural landscape and with a special familiarity of Latino community issues and organizations
● Ability to be focused, detailed, and strategic, while meeting deadlines, juggling multiple tasks, and working as part of a remote, multi-cultural team
● Ability to be self-directed, creative, and work independently
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish
● Ability to travel (approximately 25%)
