Project Manager Consultant

Scope of Work
Title: Project Manager Consultant
Reports to: Executive Committee of the Collaborative
Open: October 2018
Location: Remote (most meetings likely in the Triangle, but this may change based on needs of membership organizations)
Status: Independent Contractor, anticipated completion within 9 months (November 2018-August 2019)

About the Collaborative:
The Collaborative is a diverse and engaged group of foundations offering funding, support, convenings, and other resources toward a North Carolina that has 1) increased voice and leadership of Latinx community in all sectors, 2) well-resourced and strong organizations serving and led by the Latinx community, 3) strong statewide connections among Latinx organizations, and 4) intersectional work with other communities. Read the Collaborative’s Landscape Report about Latinx Organizations in NC.  The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro currently serves as the fiscal sponsor for the Collaborative.

We are seeking to build a structure that includes the voices of funder and Latinx-led organizations in North Carolina to share power in the setting of strategy and decision making for future grantmaking, convening and operational structure. Click here to learn more.

Job description:

Project Deliverables:

Communication/Organizing

  • Communication plan

  • External communication products such as e-newsletter or web site

  • Facilitation of 9-10 membership organization calls

  • Facilitation of 2-3 on-site meetings

  • Interaction with non-profit partners and grantees

  • Documents to educate the community about the Collaborative

  • Recruitment plan to add new foundations and Latinx organizations to the Collaborative

  • Reports to existing funding sources


Research/Benchmarking

  • In-depth interviews with similar collaboratives to explore their structures, roles, and process

  • Dashboard on key decisions and tasks of the Collaborative


Operational Structure

  • Recommendations based on research and pilot phase engagement for a long term intermediary organization for the Collaborative

  • Operating Practices for Pilot phase of new Collaborative structure

  • Provide consultation on a leadership and committee structure for the Collaborative and the grantmaking process that is inclusive of funding and non-funding organizations


Fundraising

  • Fundraising plan that include local, state and national funders

  • Submission requests and reports for accessing funds that are earmarked for the Collaborative by existing funding organizations who are members of the Collaborative

  • Write grant proposals for additional funding to support operations of the Collaborative and to pool resources for grantmaking to eligible Latinx organizations.



Key Skills:
The Collaborative is seeking an individual with the experience and professionalism required to coordinate a diverse group of foundation and Latinx organization staff, while also managing the logistical and administrative details associated with meetings and crafting a pilot structure for how the Collaborative will move forward. These skills include:

  • Proven project management expertise, including management of administrative/logistical

Details:

  • Knowledge of non-profit organizations and their operations.

  • Deep understanding of the issues by immigrants today and the ability to respond with dignity, respect, and sincerity.

  • Convening and group/meeting facilitation skills.

  • Strong communication skills: Written/oral/presentation, as well as data collection, dissemination and storage. Bilingual in Spanish and English. Comfort with Google Drive and their associated functions as a way to share and maintain most updated documents with the Collaborative.

  • Understanding of the Latinx organizational landscape is preferred.
