Community Comes Together to Create the Thomas A. Bryson Legacy Fund through Community Foundation of Henderson County

Hendersonville, N.C., Aug. 7, 2017: Community Foundation of Henderson County (CFHC) is honored to help our community venerate the life of Thomas A. Bryson through the Thomas A. Bryson Legacy Fund.

The fund honors the legacy of Thomas A. Bryson, a man of faith and family, who was initially reported missing in Mills River on Wednesday, July 26 2017.

Mr. Bryson graduated from West Henderson High School in 1967 and was the co-owner of Appalachian Stove & Fabricators in Asheville for 40 years. He was known as a family man who loved basketball.

After the news of Mr. Bryson’s passing, the community rallied together to create a fund with CFHC that would commemorate Mr. Bryson’s incredible legacy forever. The Thomas A. Bryson Legacy Fund is a donor advised fund, which will give the Bryson family the freedom to advise funds to nonprofits and causes that best commemorate Mr. Bryson’s passions and interests. Because of Mr. Bryson’s love for basketball, the family would like the Thomas A. Bryson Legacy Fund to initially support the construction of a Mills River Basketball court.

“A donor advised fund is a great way to memorialize lost loved ones and their philanthropic passions forever,” said CFHC President/CEO McCray V. Benson.

“Donor-advised funds give families the freedom to choose how best to honor their loved one through charitable gifts to local nonprofits or community projects.

Community Foundation of Henderson County seeks to make this process as easy as possible for the family by doing regular due diligence on the organizations their fund supports; so families always know that their charitable gift is going to fulfill their intent while providing documentation for deductibility for all donors.”

The Bryson family hopes that through the Thomas A. Bryson Legacy fund, there will be an ultimate good to outweigh a heartbreaking situation. There are multiple ways people can contribute to the legacy of Thomas A. Bryson. All gifts are tax deductible:
