The Cone Health Foundation ranked eighth among funders in nine Deep South states in the 15th annual Philanthropic Support to Address HIV/AIDS report, recently released by Funders Concerned About AIDS, for funding HIV programs and services.

Eighty-seven percent of HIV philanthropy in the Deep South came from the top 10 donors, the organization said.

The Deep South states are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

The foundation has invested $5.4 million in HIV treatment and prevention in the greater Greensboro area since its inception in 1997, including $544,000 in 2016 and $698,407 in 2017, and will invest $722,991 in 2018, Cone Health said Friday.
