The Foundation for a Healthy High Point awards grants to 4 Non-Profits

High Point, N.C. — On December 6, 2017, the Board of Directors for The Foundation for a Healthy High Point — a private foundation that invests in the advancement of health and wellness for High Point residents — approved $251,557 in grants to local organizations and non-profits as a part of the Foundation’s Fall Grant cycle. Approximately 80% of the awarded funds were for programs addressing Behavioral Health.

 

“The Foundation is proud to make these grantmaking investments in our community by collaborating with organizations making positive impact,” said Jim Keever, Board Chairman for the Foundation. “The grants approved by the Foundation’s Board represent strong partnerships among agencies dedicated to improving health outcomes in Greater High Point” said Tina Markanda, Executive Director of the Foundation for a Healthy High Point.
The Foundation for a Healthy High Point’s Board of Directors approved the following grants:

  •  Family Service of the Piedmont: $95,000 to assist with transitional services management – From hospital to community-based services.
  • Guilford Adult Health: $66,250 to assist with integrating behavioral health into primary care services.
  • Open Door Ministries: $41,307 to assist with expanding behavioral health services.
  • Children’s Home Society of North Carolina, Inc.: $49,000 to assist with a continuum of teen pregnancy prevention services.

The Foundation for a Healthy High Point was established in 2013 through the merger of High Point Regional Health and UNC Health Care. The mission of the Foundation is to encourage, support, influence, and invest in efforts that improve health and wellness throughout the Greater High Point community, which includes High Point, Jamestown, Archdale and Trinity.
