Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust Celebrates 75 Years by Supporting Maternal- Child Health

In her lifetime, Trust founder, Kate B. Reynolds, funded charities dedicated to improving the lives of those whom she called “the poor and needy” of North Carolina. In her will she left instructions for a trust to be founded in her name to further this work, with an initial focus on improving the quality of life of people with low incomes in Forsyth County and improving health care around the state.

SECU Foundation Provides $10,000 Scholarships to area High School Students!

State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) members via the SECU Foundation, funded $10,000 four-year college scholarships to two local graduating high school seniors for study at one of the 16 campuses in the University of North Carolina System.

RiverLink Receives Community Foundation Anniversary Grant for Mud Creek Project

Hendersonville, N.C., May 31, 2022 – Community Foundation of Henderson County awarded its third grant in series of special 40th Anniversary grants at Saturday morning’s Garden Jubilee Speaker Series. At the event, which was sponsored by Community Foundation, a grant totaling $28,700 was presented to nonprofit RiverLink to implement their “Connecting the Community with Mud Creek” project. RiverLink works to promote the environmental and economic vitality of the French Broad River and its watershed as a place to live, work, and play.

Jamilla Pinder Joins Cone Health Foundation

Jamilla Pinder is joining Cone Health Foundation (CHF). She will serve in the newly created role of director of equity and community engagement. CHF is changing the way it approaches identifying community needs and organizations that can meet them. This position will allow CHF to deepen its ability to listen and have its work guided by those with lived experiences of inequities.

Community Foundation of Henderson County Announces New Scholars for 2022-2023

Hendersonville, N.C., May 5, 2022 – Community Foundation of Henderson County is pleased to announce their new  scholarship recipients for the 2022-23 school year. The Foundation’s Board of Directors approved 264 scholarships  totaling $577,900 to be awarded to new students and current recipients. The Foundation awarded 107 new  scholarships totaling $209,325 to 104 local students. For current Scholars, 157 renewable scholarship awards  totaling $368,575 were offered.

Community Foundation Awards Grants to Children and Family Resource Center and WNCSource

Hendersonville, N.C., May 2, 2022 – Community Foundation of Henderson County awarded a total of $63,400 to two area nonprofits as part of their special 40th Anniversary Grant program. The awards were presented to Children & Family Resource Center and WNCSource during Sunday’s International Children’s Festival at Jackson Park. The event was organized by Hola Carolina and sponsored by Community Foundation of Henderson County.

SECU Foundation Awards TROSA $40,000 Grant for Satellite Campus in Forsyth County

RALEIGH, N.C., April 29, 2022 -- SECU Foundation recently provided a $40,000 grant to TROSA, a non-profit residential recovery program that empowers men and women with substance use disorder to transform their lives. The funding will help TROSA plan for the continued growth of its housing program with a new campus in Forsyth County.

Great Smokies Health Foundation Board Names New Executive Director

After an extensive search, the Board of Directors of the Great Smokies Health Foundation GSHF) is pleased to announce the selection of Brian Huskey as the next Executive Director of the Foundation. He will succeed Michele Garashi-Ellick who has been with the Foundation since its inception in 2014 and is retiring. Brian will begin his new role on May 4th.
