Laughing Gull Foundation Commits $1.98 Million in Grants to Organizations Advancing Justice for LGBTQ Southerners

Durham, NC – The Laughing Gull Foundation (LGF) is pleased to announce the approval of $1,980,000 in grants to be awarded in 2021 to 30 organizations advancing justice for the LGBTQ community in the U.S. South from its LGBTQ Equality Fund.

Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation is Accepting Applications for Fall 2021 Grant Cycle

The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation (ZSR) is accepting applications for its State-Level Systemic Change Strategy Fall 2021 grant cycle until July 22, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. (noon). The annual Fall 2021 State-Level Systemic Change Strategy is open to any eligible local, regional, and statewide organization and coalition or collaborative that is aligned with ZSR’s core values, mission and state-level vision and working to achieve state-level systemic change. ZSR’s State-Level Systemic Change Strategy is one of three major strategies that comprise All For NC: Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation’s Framework for Grantmaking and Learning.

Grantees Announced: Grassroots Efforts to Promote Equitable Early Childhood Outcomes


We are excited to announce that 11 local nonprofit organizations committed to advancing equity in the early childhood sector have received multi-year grant funding as a result of a collaboration between the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation and Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust. The partnership was formed to support community-based organizations and coalitions led by and serving Black, Latino, American Indian, and other people of color that are working to center the experience of children and families to tackle a range of early childhood issues.

Black Philanthropy Initiative Announces Equity In Education Grant Recipients

The Black Philanthropy Initiative (BPI) announces $68,000 in grants awarded through its Equity in Education grants program.  The spring 2021 grant cycle focused on BPI’s goal of advancing equity in education so that Black students and graduates can gain access, advance, and have the support needed to thrive. BPI prioritized Black-led organizations, public schools with a high population of Black students, and organizations and programs that invest directly in predominately Black schools and/or neighborhoods.

Heather Parlier joins Dogwood Health Trust as Director of Human Resources


Asheville, N.C. –   Dogwood Health Trust is pleased to announce that Heather Parlier will join the organization as Director of Human Resources. She begins her duties on July 12, 2021. Parlier joins Dogwood from UNC Asheville where she has served as Vice Chancellor for Human Resources, Institutional Equity, and General Counsel since October 2019.  While in this position, she created the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program at UNC Asheville. Parlier also served UNC Asheville from 2013 to 2016 as General Counsel and as Chief of Staff to the Chancellor.  In those positions, she was the chief legal officer for the institution, oversaw the work of the Office of the Chancellor, and was the lead staff member on the campus’s strategic planning process.

Dogwood Health Trust Announces Establishment of Impact Health


Asheville, N.C. –   Dogwood Health Trust is pleased to announce the establishment of Impact Health, a new entity formed to manage and oversee the Healthy Opportunities Pilot across Western North Carolina’s 18 counties. The Healthy Opportunities Pilot is the nation’s first comprehensive program to test evidence-based, non-medical interventions designed to reduce costs and improve the health of Medicaid members. The groundbreaking program will create a systematic approach to integrating and financing services that address housing stability, transportation access, food security and interpersonal safety into the delivery of health care – with a goal of building the evidence base to identify which services are most effective at improving health and lowering health care costs.

North Carolina Healing Communities Fund distributes nearly $2 million in grants to nonprofits impacted by COVID-19

The North Carolina Community Foundation is pleased to announce nearly $2 million in grants from the North Carolina Healing Communities Fund. Through this first application cycle of the Fund, 59 grants were made to nonprofit organizations all across North Carolina to assist their recovery from the financial impacts of COVID-19.  The grants range from $25,000 to $50,000, totaling $1,986,429.

North Carolina Community Foundation Announces New Grant Opportunity

The NC Community Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of this year’s competitive grants program of the Louise Oriole Burevitch Endowment. This program is the fourth annual competitive cycle from the Endowment, which supports nonprofit organizations serving education, health and human services in 41 eastern North Carolina counties.
