Member Services Coordinator

Organizational Summary
The North Carolina Network of Grantmakers (NCNG) is a membership association that connects and supports a diverse community of 115 grantmaking organizations committed to learning and working together. This community of funders is made up of private foundations, community foundations, family foundations and corporate giving programs. NCNG connects, equips, and inspires grantmakers through networking, educational and professional development programs throughout the year.

 

Job description:

The Member Services Coordinator will join the Executive Director and Program Director as part of an entrepreneurial team supporting NCNG’s member foundations. This customer service position will work directly with members, as well as behind the scenes, to ensure grantmakers have access to the staff support, benefits and programming provided through their membership in NCNG.

Position Summary
The successful candidate will be a self-directed, highly organized and solution-focused team player, who enjoys working with a small team of committed and passionate colleagues, and is interested in assisting North Carolina’s diverse philanthropic sector and the broader nonprofit community.
 
The Member Services Coordinator will work from the NCNG offices in Raleigh, managing the administrative activities of the office, overseeing the membership website and database, assisting with logistics for a variety of events and programs, and providing individualized support to members. The position offers the opportunity for hands-on engagement with current and prospective members.
 
Responsibilities

  • Maintain online member database, updating and enhancing as necessary

  • Provide assistance to members in accessing and utilizing the website and database

  • Respond to member requests for assistance, research or information

  • Manage the NCNG website (member news, event information/registration, resources, job postings)

  • Manage internal and external event scheduling

  • Support membership renewal process

  • Work with Executive Director and Program Director to facilitate internal and external communications, including written materials, newsletters and website content

  • Assist with programs, including scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence, taking notes

  • Provide event planning support, including researching and securing venues, arranging caterers, developing meeting materials, on-site setup

  • Contribute to team cohesion and productivity with positive, proactive and cooperative participation

  • Establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships with network members, board and committee members and coworkers

  • Other duties as assigned, including routine office operations and project coordination and support

 
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Customer service orientation

  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills

  • Highly organized and detail oriented

  • High ethical standards, discretion, and respect for confidentiality

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Driver’s license and ability to travel within North Carolina (rental car provided for longer trips)

  • Ability to work non-standard hours for meetings and events several times per year

 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with websites and databases preferred

  • At least three years of comparable experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of online conferencing platforms and tools (Zoom Meetings preferred)

  • Interest in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors preferred

 
Compensation and Work Location
The salary range for this position is $40,000-$44,000, based on experience, for a 35-hour work week; benefits include health, dental and vision insurance, short-and long-term disability insurance, retirement benefits, as well as paid vacation and holidays. Computer equipment will be provided.
 
Due to COVID-19, the NCNG team is currently working remotely. Our culture is rooted in collaboration and in-person colleague interaction. Once our offices reopen, the Member Services Coordinator will generally work on location at NCNG’s Raleigh office, according to a schedule agreed upon with their supervisor. Some flexibility in work hours can be accommodated.
