Senior Foundation Systems Consultant

The Senior Foundation Systems Consultant supports the External Affairs business unit and specifically the Duke Energy Foundation in data analytics, business intelligence, IT systems, grant monitoring, employee engagement, sustainability reporting, financial reporting and customer service for Duke Energy Foundation grantees. This person translates data into external storytelling and strategy recommendations and serves as the data expert on our company’s philanthropic giving and employee engagement programs. While the primary focus will be on data analytics for these areas, as needed, the role may also help advise and translate analytics for the broader stakeholder function, such as key metrics that demonstrate results across the function. Strong communications skills help this person share his or her deep, data-driven understanding with the larger, layperson team. The role delivers, prompt best-in-class customer service to Duke Energy Foundation grantees needing assistance with our grant monitoring and application systems, taking ownership for resolving problems at first outreach. To excel in this role, the Senior Foundation Systems Consultant is organized, self-motivated, collaborative and comfortable with role autonomy.

  • Managing Duke Energy Foundation’s grantmaking platform

    • Lead transition between grant management platforms

    • Grant application management

    • System access management (for nonprofits & internal Duke Energy users)

    • Vendor technical requirements ownership

    • Grantee customer service

    • Data Management:

      • Grant system data exports

      • Impact report management

      • Data sync with Accounting

  • External Affairs Library Power BI report management and metrics for stakeholder engagement function

    • Duke Energy County Profiles Report

    • Employee engagement BI Reports

    • Foundation grants report

    • Consulting and management of data that assists tracking/management of key progress

  • Employee engagement platform management

    • Data export from CSR system & Duke Energy workforce database queries

    • Vendor technical requirements ownership

    • Power of Giving Power BI Analytics

    • Power of Giving silent auction management

  • Financial management support and reporting, Sustainability Reporting

    • Assist in the Foundation’s financial management, including budgeting, reporting and implementing financial modifications.

    • Pull data for regular sustainability reporting

  • Training Duke Energy colleagues how to access philanthropic data and pull meaning from the data

  • Using data understanding to make trend analysis strategy recommendations for philanthropic giving

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility location(s) listed.

Required/Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree Computer Science, Finance, Engineering, Data analytics, Business or other related discipline

  • In addition to required degree listed above, five (5) years minimum of related work experience

  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree AND five (5) years minimum of related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 10 years minimum related work experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel

  • SQL and database access

  • Python

  • APIs (Application Programming Interface)

  • Microsoft Power BI (or experience with Tableau and willing to learn Power BI)

  • GIS applications, scripts, tools, and web services

  • Experience working with philanthropic giving at a foundation or nonprofit OR experience in a complex, corporate environment

  • Financial acumen

  • Excels in a matrixed reporting organization

  • Strong at building trusting, collaborative relationships

  • Translate project requirements into real-world GIS solutions that fit in with current programs, projects and initiatives.
