Program Officer I

The Program Officer will serve as a statewide resource for Foundation projects, grant-making and other processes and procedures of the Foundation. The Program Officer will assist in working with non-profits applying for grants, help to review program outcomes, and support other Foundation staff with the daily promotional, operational, and fiscal responsibilities of the Foundation.
Job description:


• Respond to inquiries from non-profit organizations regarding Foundation’s grant-making guidelines and Letter of Interest.
• Assist in the management and oversight for Foundation projects and programs.
• Work closely with other Foundation staff to ensure all departmental and organizational goals and deadlines are met in a timely manner.
• Serve as a primary reference for all grant-making inquiries. Maintain considerable contact with non-profit organizations, general public, branch and operations employees, and management-level employees in other branches and departments.
• Coordinate Foundation functions performed by SECU internal departments and provide follow up to determine work is properly completed.
• Additional responsibility for project management as assigned.


• Must be knowledgeable and promote all areas of the Foundation to branch and operations personnel as well as the public.
• Correspondence and coordination of duties with internal departments providing support functions to the Foundation.
• Monitor, manage and document grant projects/programs including serving as liaison with grantees to ensure proper payments are made and reports received.
• Assistance with grantmaking administration, evaluating grant proposals, meeting with grant applicants, conducting due diligence, assessing the impact of projects and programs, and writing and presenting recommendations to provide feedback to Foundation Board.
• Apply knowledge to collect, measure, and analyze data to provide analysis and reporting.
• Develop professional graphs, reports and presentations to report revised 
• Answering email and phone correspondence related to Foundation inquires (such as grant-making application process, scholarship program, etc.)
• Maintain and develop electronic files and other correspondence.
• Development and maintenance of Foundation databases.
• Maintenance of public documents, forms and website to ensure information is accurate.
• Coordination of press releases, media events and presentations.
• Participate in meetings as directed, reporting results to SVP/Executive Director and VP SECU Foundation.
• Participate in SECU member outreach as requested.
• Must be able to form collaborative relationships with potential and current grantees. • Provide regular updates to Management on project activities.
• Must be able to drive and willing to travel as requested by management.
• Perform other duties as assigned


Experience – Foundation or grantmaking experience preferred, including experience with project management. Should be comfortable networking, building crosscultural relationships, and interacting with public charities and government organizations.

Education – Must have a four-year degree, CCUE certification, or an Associate in Arts degree or Associate in Science degree via the North Carolina College Transfer Program (NC-CTP) requirements.
• Must be capable of representing SECU Foundation when needed for training, meetings, onsite support, etc.
• Candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills - telephone, email and personal communications.
• Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, professional, resourceful, and have a willingness to help others.
• Ability to analyze and make sound decisions based on available data.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and changing priorities in an efficient and effective manner while also meeting deadlines and paying attention to accuracy and detail.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality is expected.
• Must be willing to learn and be open to new ideas.
• Knowledge of SECU policies and procedures is required.
• Must be able to speak English fluently.
• Must be able to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers and be cordial in all interactions with members, co-workers, and the general public.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule when appropriate and adhere to the work schedule/attendance policy established by manager.
• Must complete the Credit Union’s Basic Module Program requirements within 24 months of hire date as a condition of employment.
