Gift Specialist

The Gift Specialist is a member of the Finance team and is responsible for overall management of gift entry and plays a key role in the gift acknowledgement process and reporting and tracking of gift data. This is a highly responsible position calling for accuracy, judgment and focus on customer service. Job description:
Core responsibilities include:
  • Administer an accurate and timely gift process
  • Review all gifts and donor information to prepare data for input
  • Resolve gift discrepancies or research contributions lacking information and correct as necessary
  • Create new profiles for new donors, fundholders, prospects, and fund advisors, ensuring accuracy of profile assignment to funds
  • Input all gifts into Foundant Community Suite from a variety of sources – routine deposits, online / credit card gifts, recurring, stock, EFT, cash/interest dividends and event-based contributions
  • Maintain accounts and logins for external third-party workplace donation processors and process matching gifts
  • Create Campaigns for special events and fundraisers, including donation portal ticket and set up, campaign and donor reporting, profile updates and ensuring correct fair market value (FMV) consideration and that contributions are correctly recorded and acknowledged.
  • Develop and implement acknowledgement process for all gifts, including monthly tribute notifications. Ensure timely distribution of all acknowledgements.
  • Ensure proper documentation is retained for all recorded gifts
  • Provide quarterly and special reports on development activities, donors, gifts
  • Other duties as assigned
 
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Moderate understanding of technical and tax considerations for charitable gifts
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills for providing excellent customer service
  • Willingness to learn and take on new tasks
  • Ability to work as a collaborative and positive team member and willing to assist others when needed
  • Ability to work cooperatively and independently
  • Aptitude for database management
  • Ability to be flexible and successful within changing environment and demands
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail for methodically diagnosing and resolving discrepancies
 
 
Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in related field of study. Experience may substitute
  • Experience in accounting support or similar discipline, including three or more years’ work experience
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills; the ability to manage a large and diverse workload; to manage multiple deadlines and tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software; specific strength with MS Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Appreciation for North Carolina’s nonprofit and philanthropic sectors
  • This position typically works from the NCCF headquarters office in Raleigh, but the ability to work remotely is required
