Job Title: Communications and Outreach Coordinator
Immediate Supervisor: IOLTA Executive Director
Positions Supervised: None
Purpose of the Job: Responsible for the implementation of effective messaging and communications strategies for North Carolina Interest on Lawyers' Trust Accounts (NC IOLTA), a program of the North Carolina State Bar.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Work with the IOLTA Executive Director, other staff, grantee organizations, and the IOLTA Board to communicate about the work of NC IOLTA and the broader value of civil legal aid in North Carolina
- Support the implementation of a wide range of internal and external communications strategies to increase awareness of NC IOLTA among identified audiences
- Manage the development of high-quality communication deliverables such as one-pagers, presentations, articles, reports, advertisements, images/infographics, and websites
- Write and coordinate the design and production of the Annual Report and other key communications materials
- Produce and distribute periodic communications to identified audiences about the work of NC IOLTA and grantee organizations including eblasts and articles in the State Bar Journal
- Write press releases as appropriate
- Write, manage, and maintain content on the NC IOLTA website, ensuring information is accurate and current
- Interview NC IOLTA partners and grantees about their work and use of funding from NC IOLTA to benefit the community
- Plan, implement, and manage social media on behalf of NC IOLTA
- Manage relationship with outside vendors including printers, graphic designers, and website administrators
- Perform other duties as assigned
Desired Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Commitment to the organization’s mission
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, mass communications or a related field preferred
- Relevant professional experience in communications
- Proficient in using social media platforms
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, written, and digital communication skills
- Ability to use language in a clear and concise manner and edit and proofread text
- Ability to work independently and effectively collaborative with coworkers
- Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with ability to work in a timely manner and manage multiple assignments
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Knowledge or ability to learn other communications tools
Working Conditions:
- Position is non-exempt in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act
- Hours: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday – Friday, one-hour lunch break
- Overtime: occasional, paid or compensatory
- Travel: occasional
- Job location: on site with opportunity for partial remote work after an initial training period
Hiring Range: $52,000 - $60,000
