Regional Director of Development - Central NC
The North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF)
The NCCF is the single statewide community foundation serving North Carolina and has administered more than $145 million in grants since its inception in 1988. With more than $270 million in assets, NCCF sustains 1,300 endowments established to provide long-term support of a broad range of community needs, nonprofit organizations, institutions and scholarships. The NCCF partners with a network of affiliate foundations to provide local resource allocation and community assistance across the state. An important component of NCCF’s mission is to ensure that rural philanthropy has a voice at local, regional and national levels.
We are seeking a Regional Director of Development for central North Carolina.
This role is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to identify, cultivate and solicit donors, financial and estate advisors, and non-profit leaders in the establishment and continued growth of charitable endowments throughout the Central Region. This position works out of our headquarters office in Raleigh and will be poised to take on additional leadership duties.
This position requires proven competence in major gifts acquisition and planned giving, superior presentation skills, and skill in representing the NCCF to potential donors, professional advisors, board members and non-profit organizations. A passion for philanthropy and the mission of the NCCF is essential.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Proven ability to develop and implement a strategic regional development plan (current gifts, deferred and planned gifts) supporting the Foundation’s goals for increasing significant endowments in region;
Proven success in establishing new relationships and working with existing relationships with professional advisors such as attorneys, tax planners and wealth experts to facilitate their clients’ charitable goals utilizing NCCF services and offerings;
Excellent communication skills including the ability to promote NCCF to donors and prospects with clarity and effectiveness and to develop presentation materials and collaterals to support this effort
A donor focused demeanor at all times, ability to build rapport and provide assistance to constituent and other staff
Strong relationship and partnership orientation- a team player with an organization wide view
Ideal Candidates will possess:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution.Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of seven years of applicable professional experience, including at least two years in nonprofit fundraising
Ability to manage and meet internal and external deadlines for complex projects, while balancing competing priorities
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with experience drafting and presenting information and proposals.
Proficiency in working with CRM database and Microsoft Office Suite
