Carteret Community Foundation awards more than $50,000 in local grants

The board of advisors of the Carteret Community Foundation announces $54,605 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund, J. O. and Ruth Barbour Memorial Fund for Elementary Education in Carteret County, J. O. and Ruth Barbour Memorial Fund for Wildlife Habitat Conservation and Pearl's Pantry Fund, according to Richard McIntyre, board president.

 

 This year’s nonprofit recipients are:

  • $2,500 to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain for the Money Matters program

  • $2,500 to the Broad Street Clinic Foundation for blood pressure monitors for home use

  • $1,000 to the Broad Street Clinic Foundation for prescription medications for the uninsured

  • $1,950 to Camp Albemarle for environmental education materials 

  • $2,500 to Carobell, Inc. / Station Club Enterprise for classroom chair replacements

  • $3,000 to Carteret County Domestic Violence Program, Inc for computer equipment upgrade

  • $2,500 to Carteret County Partnership for Children for Reach Out and Read

  • $2,500 to Crystal Coast Autism Center for the scholarship assistance program for children/youth at Crystal Coast Autism Center

  • $2,500 to Crystal Coast Hospice House, Inc. for hospice awareness & education book distribution

  • $7,310 to Friends of the Museum North Carolina Maritime Museum, Inc. for nature trail clearing and chipping at the Gallants Channel Campus, Beaufort, NC

  • $2,500 to Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines for the Carteret County Girl Scout Leadership Experience program

  • $2,200 to Hope City for the C.O.A.C.H. Hope (Community, Opportunities & Awareness with Compassion, Humility & HOPE) program

  • $1,600 to Muscular Dystrophy Association for summer camp

  • $1,000 to NC Literary and Historical Association for Blackbeard 300

  • $2,500 to North Carolina Symphony Society, Inc. for music education concert for Carteret County elementary schools

  • $2,500 to Ronald McDonald House of Eastern NC for general operating support

  • $6,760 to St. Egbert Catholic School for the Chrome Book 1:1 Literary/Technology project

  • $2,315 to The Bridge Downeast, Inc. for building security monitoring system

  • $2,500 to TROSA (Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers, Inc.) for residential substance abuse recovery services for individuals from Carteret County

  • $2,470 to Wilmington Family YMCA for expansion of Girls on the Run and STRIDE programs for Carteret County Youth

McIntyre thanked the community for its support of the Carteret Community Foundation. “These grants are important to our community and our quality of life,” he said. “Critical programs would not be possible without the generosity of many individuals and organizations that have supported Carteret County’s community fund.”
