Chowan Community Funds Foundation announces new board president and vice president

2/4/2019
The board of advisors of the Chowan Community Funds Foundation announces a new advisory board president and vice president, according to Natalie Jenkins Peel, NCCF regional director.

Lynne Layton was named board president. She is a Chowan County native, JA Holmes High School and Peace College graduate and a local mortgage lender with BB&T. She married her high school sweetheart and has two grown children and a grandson.

Dr. Robert Christian Ford was named board vice president. He is the co-owner of the Chowan Animal Hospital and a graduate of NC State University. He is a member of the vestry at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and a husband and father of two children.

“We are very excited to serve the Chowan Community Funds Foundation board of advisors,” Layton said. “We look forward to working with the board to benefit our local community.”

The Chowan Community Funds Foundation is a growing family of philanthropic funds, source of grants for local causes and partner for donors. CCFF was founded in 2006 and is led by a local volunteer advisory board that helps build community assets through the creation of permanent endowments, makes grants and leverages leadership – all for the benefit of Chowan County.

The CCFF board advises the Chowan County Community Fund, the unrestricted community grantmaking fund, to support local needs. This competitive grants program is held annually. Because advisory board members live and work in Chowan County, they can leverage resources to help meet local needs and access opportunities. In addition to Layton and Ford, board members include: Robin Sams (secretary/treasurer), Mireya Alvarado, John Bryant, Katherine Little Farless, Cynthia Harding, Paul Hicks, Landon Mason and Brock Mitchell.

The CCFF, through the NC Community Foundation, makes it easy to become a philanthropist, whatever your means or charitable goals. You can open an endowment for your favorite cause at any time – or contribute to an existing fund in any amount. Tax-deductible contributions, made payable to the Chowan Community Funds Foundation, can be mailed to the North Carolina Community Foundation, 3737 Glenwood Ave. Suite 460, Raleigh, NC 27612. Contributions can also be made online at nccommunityfoundation.org.
