RALEIGH, N.C. — The NC 4-H Camp program announced it is partnering with the Duke Energy Foundation to provide 10 camp scholarships valued at $5250 for vulnerable youth from counties in eastern North Carolina to attend camp this summer.

The NC 4-H Camps program is a state-wide summer camp scholarship program that provides summer camp experiences for youth from vulnerable populations, including youth from low-income families, youth of color, youth from military families, youth residing in foster care, and youth experiencing challenges with mental health and well-being.

Since the program’s inception in 2019, NC 4-H has provided more than 500 young people the opportunity to go to camp at one of our three 4-H camps and centers.

“The Duke Energy Foundation is focused on strengthening and uplifting communities throughout North Carolina,” said Indira Everett, Director of the Duke Energy East Region Community Relations team. “We understand how important it is to invest in our young people. Summer camp is a fundamental experience that all youth should have, so we are proud to help send youth in need to 4-H camp this summer.”

“There are few tools as powerful as the camp experience to positively impact the lives of young people,” said Angela Brisson, Interim NC 4-H Camping Specialist. “This support is making the camp experience accessible for 10 youth who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend. We are grateful to the Duke Energy Foundation for helping these young people find a sense of belonging, community, and positive support at camp this summer.”

The youth recipients of these scholarships will attend the following camps during the summer of 2023:
