Endowment supporting the Helping Hands Clinic marks 10 years

7/18/2024
The Helping Hands Clinic, a nonprofit organization in Lenoir, N.C., that improves the health of uninsured adults in Caldwell County, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its endowment at the North Carolina Community Foundation.

The agency endowment was established at NCCF in May 2014 with support from the Broyhill Family Foundation and provides ongoing support for the mission of the Helping Hands Clinic.

“I’m incredibly grateful that the Clinic established this fund with the support of the Broyhill Foundation and that it continues to sustain our mission,” said Brittany Bonn, Executive Director of the Helping Hands Clinic.

The Helping Hands Clinic was founded in 1998 on the belief that the inability to pay should not prevent people from receiving quality health care. The clinic’s mission is not only to provide access to care but to improve the health of its patients. Each year the clinic’s health care providers complete more than 3,000 visits for uninsured adults. In addition to medical visits and life-saving prescription medication, the clinic offers a wide range of free services including patient education, on-site labs and diagnostic tests.

Thanks to strong community partnerships and volunteer support, each year the Helping Hands Clinic provides more than $7 million in high-quality medical care with an operating budget of less than 10% of its total cost.

Agency endowment funds are established by a nonprofit organization to provide a reliable source of income to support its mission or operations. A charitable organization like the Helping Hands Clinic that establishes an endowment with NCCF directly benefits from inclusion in a large portfolio, with access to experienced investment managers and other endowment services. There are more than 200 agency endowments at NCCF.
