Funding Available - Nonprofit Capacity Building: Strategic Relationships, March 2021

3/4/2021
The John Rex Endowment announces a new funding opportunity that builds on the strength and sustainability of nonprofit organizations with a focus on collaborations that want to enrich their strategic relationships. This opportunity is to help grassroots collaboratives assess their work and to strengthen partnerships and impact.

From our research and learning, we know that funding for capacity building and specifically for collaborative efforts is difficult to obtain. It is particularly scarce for organizations led by people of color due to long-term racial biases in philanthropy. While the Endowment is unable to fully correct these practices and inequities, we made an intentional choice of prioritizing organizations with Black, Latinx, and Indigenous leadership for this funding opportunity. The collaboratives prioritized will be those that are advocating for children’s social, emotional, behavioral health and well-being as highlighted by the pandemic’s impact.

Each grant will include two parts; first is an assessment to identify the collaborative’s strengths followed by the capacity building work which is based on the findings of the assessment. For a full description of this funding opportunity, including eligibility and key dates, see the Request for Proposals (RFP).
  • Letters of Intent for this funding opportunity are due Tuesday, March 30.
  • Please register for an informational webinar on March 10 at 2:00 p.m. or March 17 at 10:00 a.m. to learn more. Registration links are in the RFP.
In June 2021, the John Rex Endowment will award three-year grants of up to $100,000 per year to four (4) collaboratives.
