DURHAM, N.C., June 13, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Goodwill Community Foundation (GCF®) announces matching grant funding of $200,000 to assist North Carolina Baptists on Mission (NCBM) in their efforts to build a mobile health clinic. The Mission's goal is to take healthcare to the most disadvantaged populations in North Carolina.

"We are very grateful to Goodwill Community Foundation for this matching grant," says Crystal Horton, Health Screening Ministry Coordinator. "The new unit will greatly increase our ability to meet the physical needs of the most vulnerable patient populations within North Carolina."

The ministry offers free health screenings to under-served and uninsured patient populations addressing chronic issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and depression. The 38-foot long mobile unit will include individual patient cubicles, private consultation areas, and a large workspace for registration. Green energy measures including solar panels will be utilized to power the battery system.

"We're very eager to see this mobile health unit built," said Rev. Dennis McLain, president, GCF®. "At GCF we believe in enriching the lives of communities regionally, nationally and internationally; this health unit provides North Carolina communities the chance to receive convenient, high-quality healthcare."

A local builder, Capital City Customs of Raleigh, will be completing the custom build which is expected to be finished by December and placed into service at the beginning of 2020.
