John Rex Endowment Awards Seven Grants Totaling More Than $800,000

RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 20, 2017) – The John Rex Endowment announces the approval of more than $800,000 in funding for seven grants to organizations and groups that support the physical, mental and emotional well-being of children.

 

Recipients include Haven House Services, The Hope Center at Pullen, Learning Together, TheGifted Arts, Wake County Public School System, Wake Technical Assistance Collaborative and WAKE Up and Read.
 
Wake County Public School System will receive $401,799 for a project to support children’s social emotional development by coaching teachers in the Social and Emotional Foundations for Learning (SEFEL) model while building a plan for sustainability to embed the SEFEL framework as a standard in preschool classrooms.  
 
Nonprofit capacity building grants were awarded to Haven House Services, The Hope Center at Pullen, Learning Together and TheGifted Arts for projects focused on sustainability and effectiveness. Haven House Services will receive $80,000; The Hope Center at Pullen will receive $60,000; Learning Together will receive $79,994; and TheGifted Arts will receive $60,000. 
 
Coalition effectiveness grant awards of $60,000 each were awarded to Wake Technical Assistance Collaborative and WAKE Up and Read. These grants support the coalitions in the assessment of the strength of their collaboration, the quality of their collective planning, and the impact of their unified action.
