8/25/2017

Aug. 8, 2017 – Jay Kennedy is joining The Duke Endowment as a program officer in Health Care.

Kennedy previously worked as a rural hospital program manager for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, where he oversaw the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Grant Program, the Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program, and the N.C. Statewide Telepsychiatry Program.

Prior to his work in state government, he served as chief operating officer for the Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson, N.C. His tenure with the center also included service as executive director for Maria Parham’s employed physician network and as executive director of Four County Health Network Inc., a subsidiary of Maria Parham.

“Jay has extensive experience working within rural hospital systems,” said Lin Hollowell, the Endowment’s Health Care director. “He has a passion for supporting the health care needs of people across the Carolinas. We are thrilled to have him join The Duke Endowment.”

The Endowment’s Health Care program area focuses on work in North Carolina and South Carolina that promotes prevention, improves the quality and safety of services, and increases access to care.

Based in Charlotte, N.C., and established in 1924 by industrialist and philanthropist James B. Duke, The Duke Endowment is a private foundation that strengthens communities in North Carolina and South Carolina by nurturing children, promoting health, educating minds and enriching spirits. Since its founding, it has awarded more than $3.4 billion in grants. The Endowment shares a name with Duke University and Duke Energy, but they are separate organizations.
