The Winston-Salem Foundation announces Staff Promotions

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem Foundation announces that Andrea Hulighan (l) has been promoted to a new position, Vice President, Strategy and Culture, and Shamika Starke (r)has been promoted to Director, Strategic Initiatives.
 
“We are excited to announce these promotions,” said Foundation President LaTida Smith. “Andrea and Shamika are mission-centered leaders with a track record for driving meaningful community impact.”

Andrea will direct the Foundation’s organizational strategy to advance the Foundation’s mission, focusing on strategy and team leadership, culture cultivation, and racial equity. The Strategy and Culture Team she will lead will consist of Communications, Human Resources, Information Systems, and Strategic Initiatives Departments. Andrea has been on the Foundation’s staff since 2007, with previous roles in the Community Grantmaking area, and more recently, leading the Strategic Initiatives department. Shamika will lead the Foundation’s team supporting the critical work of our Strategic Initiatives: the Black Philanthropy Initiative, The Women’s Fund of Winston-Salem, and Youth Grantmakers in Action.

Shamika will work closely with the boards of the Black Philanthropy Initiative and The Women’s Fund, providing strategic leadership to sustain, elevate and manage activities of the initiatives. Shamika joined the Foundation in 2018, previously serving as Strategic Initiatives Officer.
