Through the power of collective giving made possible by their incredible members, The Women’s Fund of Winston-Salem awarded nine grants totaling $122,410 at this year's annual luncheon celebration. With a mission to build economic security for women and girls in Forsyth County, members of The Women’s Fund come together to advance equity. Over the past 15 years, the Fund has granted over $1.87 million to organizations working to improve the lives of women and girls in Forsyth County.
2021 GRANT RECIPIENTS:
- Children’s Law Center of Central NC: $15,000 to support domestic violence survivors in evaluating their needs and barriers and connecting them to community resources.
- City with Dwellings: $15,000 to support a women's peer support program for women experiencing homelessness.
- Eliza’s Helping Hands: $15,000 for the PEARLS program. PEARLS (Preparing Eager Achievers to Redirect their Lives Successfully) strives to provide holistic support to African-American and Latina/Hispanic girls ages 12 – 17.
- Imprints Cares: $15,000 for the Pediatric Parenting Connections program to provide young moms with post-natal health and parenting support.
- LEAD Girls: $15,000 to support programs designed to help middle school girls develop critical social and emotional skills.
- Neighborhood’s Hands: $15,000 for the Girls Rise Up program. This program provides tutoring, mentoring, educational workshops, and health and wellness activities for girls of color to improve confidence and emotional well-being.
- Salem Academy: $4,850 for the Girl Up Mentor Program that encourages middle school girls to attend college.
- The Wells Center: $12,560 to work with women in the Forsyth County Detention Center and those who have recently been released.
- YWCA of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County: $15,000 to support the Hawley House, a state-licensed recovery facility for women diagnosed with substance use disorder.

Established in 2005, its mission is to engage the community to build economic security for women and girls in Forsyth County. Women's Fund members include individuals from all walks of life, backgrounds, and circumstances. They are corporate and nonprofit leaders, educators, activists, community leaders, entrepreneurs, students, and volunteers.
Supporters of the Fund supporters share the belief that all women and girls in Forsyth County should have equal opportunities and the skills and resources to be independent, self-sufficient, and contributing members of the community. So far, the Fund has granted more than $1.87 million to programs that directly benefit the women and girls of Forsyth County.
