United Way and Community Foundation Announce Additional $53,500 in Grants Awarded from Henderson County COVID-19 Response Fund

5/7/2020
Hendersonville, N.C., May 7, 2020 – Today, officials from United Way of Henderson County and Community Foundation of Henderson County announced the recipients of a fourth round of grants from the Henderson County COVID-19 Response Fund, a partnership fund that supports community-based organizations at the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic in Henderson County.

Grants were awarded Thursday morning to seven organizations, totaling $53,500. This brings total distributions from the fund to $228,540 for 31 organizations since the fund was first established on March 20. To date, the fund has raised nearly $330,000.

“The effects of COVID-19 have magnified needs of individuals in our community who depend on important nonprofits – which have also been negatively affected by the pandemic,” said Bo Caldwell, superintendent of Henderson County Public Schools, and a member of the Fund’s advisory committee. “Through contributions made to the Henderson County COVID-19 Response Fund, we can directly support the continuity of care these nonprofits provide for individuals facing increased hardships. It is so rewarding to live in such a caring and giving community that steps up and reaches out to provide to those in need,” he added.

The fourth round of grants were awarded to:
  • Blue Ridge Literacy Council for family literacy remote support. ($5,100)
  • Children & Family Resource Center for diapers, wipes, and formula for families in Henderson County and cleaning supplies for childcare centers. ($10,000)
  • Crossnore School & Children’s Home for counseling services for children and adolescents affected by COVID-19. ($5,900)
