United Way and Community Foundation Announce Additional Grants from Henderson County COVID-19 Response Fund

Hendersonville, N.C., April 24, 2020 – On Friday, April 24, officials from United Way of Henderson County and Community Foundation of Henderson County announced additional recipients of relief grants from the Henderson County COVID-19 Response Fund, a partnership fund that supports community-based organizations at the frontlines of the coronavirus in Henderson County.
 
A third round of grants from the COVID-19 Response Fund was awarded to eight organizations, totaling $48,040. This brings the awards from this fund to $175,040 for 28 organizations since the Henderson County COVID-19 Response Fund was first established on March 20. To date, the fund has raised nearly $300,000.
An advisory committee of representatives from local government and community institutions who are working directly with impacted populations is continuing to meet regularly in the coming weeks to allocate funds based on growing community needs. Additional grants will be awarded as applications continue to be accepted on a rolling basis.
The third round of grants went to:
  • Blue Ridge Health for laptops and licensing fees to enable HIPPA compliant online patient visits. ($10,000)
  • Blue Ridge Humane Society for pet food assistance for Meals on Wheels recipients and others in need. ($3,000)
  • Jewish Family Services of WNC for case management of at-risk Elder Club members. ($2,500)
  • La Capilla de Santa Maria Episcopal for financial assistance for Latinx families that have lost employment. ($4,540)
  • Mountain Care for remote support for adult day care participants and their caregivers. ($3,000)
  • Safelight for emergency shelter, mental health services, and court support for survivors of interpersonal violence. ($10,000)
  • St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Barnabas Church for food boxes, diapers, rent and utility assistance. ($5,000)
  • Veterans Healing Farm for farm operations to grow, harvest, and donate food to local food pantries. ($10,000)

An application form for organizations to request funds is available on both United Way’s (www.liveunitedhc.org) and Community Foundation’s (www.cfhcforever.org) websites. A list of grant recipients from previous rounds of funding can also be found on their websites.

  • Checks: payable to the “Henderson County COVID-19 Response Fund” c/o Community Foundation of Henderson County, 401 N. Main St., Ste. 300, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
  • Donor Advised Fundholders: request a grant to the Henderson County COVID-19 Response Fund from your donor advised fund. Call the Foundation at 828-697-6224 for assistance.
