Watauga County Community Foundation awards more than $22,000 in local grants

The board of advisors of the Watauga County Community Foundation announces $22,100 in local awards from its community grantmaking fund and the Armfield and Rachel Rivers Coffey Memorial Fund, according to Ryan Postlethwait, board president.
 
 
This year the board will grant:
  • $2,000 to the Back 2 School Festival for general operating support
  • $2,000 to the Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture for developing the Tuesday King Street Farmers' Market: A Regional Farmers' Market
  • $1,500 to the Children's Council of Watauga County, Inc. for the family literacy program
  • $3,000 to F.A.R.M. Cafe, Inc. for the High Country food recovery program
  • $500 to In/Visible Arts for The Place Setting: A Theatrical Adaptation of Fred Sauceman's Appalachian Foodways Writing
  • $1,250 to the Mountain Alliance for the leadership development program
  • $500 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for the Star Pupils Watauga County program
  • $1,250 to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC for Service Insights-Data Tracking Rollout
  • $2,250 to Spirit Ride Inc. for the Help Us Never Say No program
  • $500 to Two Rivers Community School for the Mountain Adventure program
  • $2,000 to WAMY Community Action, Inc. for Mountain Adventure Days
  • $1,600 to Watauga County Habitat for Humanity for the A Brush With Kindness - Home Repair Project program
  • $2,500 to the Watauga County Historical Society for the Digital Watauga Project
  • $1,250 to the Western Youth Network for the Summer Camp Program
