Allie Garrett to become a Senior Program Associate with Energy Foundation

Winston-Salem, NC (June 20, 2019) – The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation (ZSR) has announced that Associate Program Officer Allie Garrett will be leaving the Foundation in July 2019 to take a position with Energy Foundation as a Senior Program Associate.

Allie joined the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation in July 2015 as the 2015-2017 Fellow. In this role, Allie supported grantmaking efforts across each of the Foundation’s issue areas, as well as led and expanded ZSR’s Nonprofit Internship Program (NPIP). In January 2017, Allie was hired as an Associate Program Officer at the Foundation. During her tenure as an Associate Program Officer, Allie managed the Environment and Strengthening Democracy portfolios, co-led the Foundation’s Community Leadership Council, and played an important role in assisting the Foundation through its Strategic Assessment and Planning process. She was also instrumental in developing ZSR’s Framework for Grantmaking and Learning where she played a major role in shaping the Foundation’s State-Level Systemic Change Strategy, which included managing the Fostering a Healthy and Sustainable Environment portfolio, and developing and implementing the Foundation’s Community-Based Strategy, which included leading efforts related to Collaborative Problem-Solving and the Progress Fund.

“While this is sad news for the Foundation, this is a wonderful opportunity for Allie,” said Maurice “Mo” Green, executive director of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation. “Allie has been an essential member of our team and a tremendously valuable asset to this Foundation, especially as we went through the process of transitioning to our Framework for Grantmaking and Learning. We are all going to miss Allie and her many contributions to the Foundation, but we know that she is going to continue to succeed as she moves into this new role.”

The Foundation is developing plans to continue its outstanding grantee relationships and other work led by Allie when she leaves. More information on those plans will be forthcoming. Allie’s last day at the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation will be July 12, 2019. She will begin her new position in August 2019.
