Golden LEAF announces $3.3 million in funding at August Board meeting

On August 4, 2022, the Golden LEAF Board of Directors awarded $445,582 in funding to support projects through the Open Grants Program and $1,382,782.18 to support rural broadband to community anchor institutions through MCNC. The Golden LEAF Board approved $127,534 in funding for the NC Rural Center to administer the Rural Internship Initiative as part of the Golden LEAF Scholarship Program. The Golden LEAF Board also awarded $1,365,000 in funding for projects through the Flood Mitigation Program.

WNC Bridge Foundation Supports 51 Organizations By Grant Funding to Strengthen Capacity

Fifty-one non-profits will have the resources necessary to focus on capacity building, the backbone of effective non-profit programs, thanks to grant funding provided by WNC Bridge Foundation’s 2022 IMPACT Grant initiative. Selected organizations will receive grant funding for three years allowing organizations to build internal effectiveness, have general operating support, and strengthen organizational knowledge. Updating technology, increasing fundraising capacity, and investing in staff and programs are other examples of how WNC non-profits plan to utilize IMPACT grant dollars.

SECU Foundation awards seven scholarships

On Monday, June 20, seven students currently in Martin Community College’s (MCC) Nurse Aide I (NA I) program were presented with Bridge to Career Cohort scholarships awarded by the N.C. State Employee Credit Union (SECU) Foundation.  The students will complete the course Aug. 31.

Outer Banks Community Foundation announces two new endowments established for scholarships, worker housing support

The Outer Banks Community Foundation has announced the establishment of two new endowed funds to support Outer Banks students and workers by Nags Head Realtor and philanthropist Karen DelVacchio. As with all endowed funds created at the Community Foundation, the Cookie Jar for Good Deeds Fund and the Helping Hand Cookie Jar Scholarship Fund are structured to be permanent sources of support, providing grants and scholarships in starting in 2023 and continuing for generations to come.

The board of advisers of the Ashe County Community Foundation has awarded $2,180 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund, $4,270 from the Daniel Lee “Dan” Eldreth Memorial Endowment, and $1,810 from the Melinda Hamrick Children’s Fund Endowment.
