The Belk Foundation Announces New Strategic Issue of Equitable Access to Effective Teachers

Charlotte, NC – The Belk Foundation announces a new, five-year strategic focus on equitable access to effective teachers. In North Carolina, students in high poverty schools are half as likely to have access to a highly effective teacher as students in low poverty schools.  Teachers are the most important in-school factor for student achievement, and this disparity in access contributes to opportunity gaps for students who are low income and/or of color.

Community Foundation of Henderson County Celebrates Board Members and Announces Scholarship Recipients

Hendersonville, N.C., June 7, 2019 – Community Foundation of Henderson County held the final board meeting of its fiscal year Wednesday, June 5, 2019.  Led by Chairperson Cindy Causby, the Foundation’s Board and professional team had an opportunity to celebrate five Board members as well as vote on awarding a total of $497,450 in new and renewable scholarships.

SECU Foundation awards five local scholarships

CLINTON — State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) members via the SECU Foundation, presented $10,000 four-year college scholarships to five local graduating high school seniors for study at one of the 16 campuses in the University of North Carolina System. The scholarships were presented by SECU Advisory Board members during school award ceremonies.
