Golden LEAF announces $5.5 million in awards for job creation, leadership development, new services for farmers, and welcomes new Board member

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C., (October 1, 2020) – Today, the Golden LEAF Board of Directors announced more than $5.5 million in funding for projects that will support the creation of 235 jobs, a program to provide leadership and capacity building training, additional funding for three disaster recovery projects, and equipment to enable the state to provide new services that will directly serve our famers. The Golden LEAF Board allocated funds to be awarded through the Golden LEAF Scholarship Program for the 2021-2022 school year. The Board also welcomed new Board member Charles Brown and heard an update from Dr. Bill Carver, Interim President of the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS).

The Foundation for a Healthy High Point Awards Grants to Nine Local Non-Profits

High Point, N.C. — On September 9, 2020 the Board of Directors for The Foundation for a Healthy High Point — a private foundation that invests in the advancement of health and wellness for High Point residents — approved a total of $162,787 as a part of the Foundation’s third quarter Fluid Strategic Investment Program. Approximately 50% of the awarded funds were for programs addressing social, behavioral and physical health, 38% of funds addressed food insecurity, and 12% of funds were for personal protective equipment.

Golden LEAF focuses on job creation, workforce training, and strategic programs to help boost economic opportunities in rural and tobacco dependent communities

The work of the Golden LEAF Foundation has brought resources and creative solutions to rural, tobacco-dependent and economically distressed communities in North Carolina for more than 20 years. With a mission rooted in long-term economic advancement, the Foundation has awarded a combined 1,882 projects across the state since 1999. Projects totaling more than $1 billion have helped create more than 65,000 jobs, support almost $700 million in new payroll and help train more than 85,000 workers. Earlier this month, the Foundation submitted their annual report to the N.C. General Assembly as required by law.

Dogwood Announces NEW Racial Equity Grants

Racial Equity Community Grants are designed as a first step from Dogwood Health Trust to infuse capital into historically underfunded organizations whose primary purpose is serving Black, indigenous and communities of color, and whose leadership is  representative of the communities they serve.
