The Duke Endowment: Opening their Home and Hearts

The first time the Stanfields met Alexis, she was 4. Dressed in pink shorts and a white T-shirt, she had long brown hair that draped her pale face. Removed from her family because of safety concerns, she was waiting for her social worker to find her a temporary home. The Winston-Salem Foundation announces 13 Community Grants totaling $222,240 that will touch the lives of many living in Forsyth County. This support is made possible by donors to the Foundation’s unrestricted funds and other flexible funds. Grants were awarded to organizations in the following program areas: arts and culture, community and economic development, health, environment, education, human services, and public interest.

Community Foundation of Henderson County Announces Eagle Scout Scholarships

Hendersonville, NC, October 2, 2018:  Dan Barber is paying it forward with Eagle Scout scholarships.  At Sunday’s scout ceremony, newly recognized Eagle Scouts, Connor Asbury and Mitchell McKinney from Boy Scout Troop 601 were each awarded a $500 college scholarship from the Dan Barber BSA Troop 601 fund held at the Community Foundation of Henderson County.

Community Foundation of NC East Presents $25,000 Check to the American Red Cross

The Community Foundation of NC East CEO, Melissa Spain, presents a check in the amount of $25,000 to the American Red Cross from the Foundation's Disaster Relief Fund Efforts! The check was presented at 12 noon today, September 27, at WECT Wilmington, during the American Red Cross Telethon. The $25,000 donation helped the American Red Cross Cape Fear Chapter surpass the $100,000 mark in donations raised today before 12 noon. Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffro also attended the presentation.
