Golden LEAF Scholarship COVID-19 Fund to support rural students at participating NC community colleges

At the April 2020 Board meeting, the Golden LEAF Foundation awarded $500,000 to the North Carolina Community College System to create a scholarship fund for North Carolina community college students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Black Philanthropy Initiative Announces Grants for Remote Learning Access in Forsyth County

The Black Philanthropy Initiative (BPI) of The Winston-Salem Foundation offers annual grants that focus on Advancing Equity in Education in Forsyth County. Due to the unprecedented challenges being experienced in the community as a result of COVID-19, BPI will postpone its traditional spring grant cycle, instead making direct investments to local schools to address equity issues around remote student learning.

Youth Grantmakers in Action Award Grants to Youth-Led Projects

Youth Grantmakers in Action (YGA) announces 10 grants totaling $7,390 to support youth-led projects in Forsyth County. This year, the group once again granted more than ever before, thanks to the generous support of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, which invested $5,000 for a third year in YGA’s grantmaking program to support youth philanthropy in our community.

United Way and Community Foundation Announce Additional Grants from Henderson County COVID-19 Response Fund

Hendersonville, N.C., April 24, 2020 – On Friday, April 24, officials from United Way of Henderson County and Community Foundation of Henderson County announced additional recipients of relief grants from the Henderson County COVID-19 Response Fund, a partnership fund that supports community-based organizations at the frontlines of the coronavirus in Henderson County.

Meals on Wheels receives $5,000 grant from Community Foundation of Western North Carolina

The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina awarded $5,000 to the Council on Aging for Henderson County’s “Meals on Wheels” and liquid nutrition programs from their Emergency and Disaster Response Fund.

Community Foundation Awards $46,788 in COVID-19 Rapid Response Grants to Three Nonprofits

Southern Shores, NC, April 21, 2020 — In its third round of COVID-19 Rapid Response Grants, the Outer Banks Community Foundation has announced $46,788 in emergency funding to local nonprofits, supporting their efforts to address food insecurity, educational needs for students with disabilities, and crisis support for individuals who have lost their jobs.
