The North Carolina Community Foundation is seeking proposals to the NC Healing Communities Fund from nonprofit organizations in the state that have been impacted severely by COVID‐19 through revenue loss and increased demand.

The NC Healing Communities Fund's focus is on marginalized communities that have been disproportionately affected by the virus and its economic impacts and have been underserved by other sources of financial assistance – specifically communities of lower wealth, communities of color, mostly rural communities and where English may not be the primary language.

Grants range from $25,000 to $55,000, with an average grant award of $40,000.

Funding is intended for applicant organizations’ operational support, not necessarily for program expenses or services related to COVID-19.

There is also an opportunity for grantees to receive capacity building support from Rural Forward NC.

The Fund has distributed $2 million so far this year. A list of those grant distributions may be found here.

The program began accepting new applications on May 3, 2021. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, which will continue until another $2 million has been distributed.
