The Forum’s membership elected the four new Directors to their first three-year terms at the Forum’s 2023 Annual Membership Meeting on July 18, 2023, in New York City, NY. Forum members also elected two current Directors to second three-year terms on the Forum Board:

  • Laurie Liles, Chief Public Policy Officer & VP, Arizona Grantmakers Forum, Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits + Arizona Grantmakers Forum
  • Pat Smith, President & CEO, The Funders Network

“The Forum is honored to welcome these exemplary philanthropy leaders to new and renewing terms on the Forum’s Board of Directors,” said Forum President & CEO David Biemesderfer. “As I noted in my remarks at the Annual Membership Meeting, the Forum is at a critical inflection point for continuing to grow and strengthen as a collective of vital organizations leading philanthropy to be more equitable, more accountable, and more effective. These new Directors bring a valuable diversity of perspectives, experiences, and skills that will serve the Forum well for the future.”

Also at the 2023 Annual Membership Meeting, Forum members honored Andreason Brown, Chief Financial Officer for the Spencer Foundation, who has completed his board term. Brown has served on the Forum’s Board of Directors for the past six years and served as the Forum’s Treasurer and Finance & audit Committee Chair for the past three years.

“We are grateful to Andreason for his extensive commitment of his time and talents—particularly his deep financial expertise—to the Forum over the past six years,” said Biemesderfer. “He has offered invaluable financial guidance during a period of tremendous growth and change for the Forum.”

Prior to the 2023 Annual Membership Meeting, United Philanthropy Forum’s Board of Directors elected a new slate of officers for the next year:

  • Chair: Amanda Misiko Andere, CEO, Funders Together to End Homelessness
  • Vice Chair: Kristen Cambell, Executive Director, Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement (PACE)
  • Treasurer: Ann Esteban, Vice President, Finance, SoCal Grantmakers
  • Secretary: Deborah Aubert Thomas, President & CEO, Philanthropy Ohio

“I’m honored to continue leading the Forum’s Board of Directors as the organization heads into an important leadership transition,” said Andere. “With the Forum’s current Directors and a strong slate of new Directors, you can rest assured that the Forum’s leadership is well-positioned to guide United Philanthropy Forum to even greater impact in the philanthropy field moving forward.”
