Program Associate

The North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF)

The NCCF is the single statewide community foundation serving North Carolina and has administered more than $145 million in grants since its inception in 1988. With more than $270 million in assets, NCCF sustains 1,300 endowments established to provide long-term support of a broad range of community needs, nonprofit organizations, institutions and scholarships. The NCCF partners with a network of affiliate foundations to provide local resource allocation and community assistance across the state. An important component of NCCF’s mission is to ensure that rural philanthropy has a voice at local, regional and national levels.
 

Job description:

We are currently seeking a qualified candidate for a program associate position.
 
Summary:
The program associate position is responsible for implementing processes related to the Foundation’s grantmaking and scholarships programs. Work priorities include: reviewing grant and scholarship application materials for eligibility and compliance; preparing materials to support decision-making and/or distribution of funds; conducting due diligence research, data entry and maintenance; and supporting optimal use of online systems with applicants and administrators. Additional responsibilities include providing support within the online grants and scholarships system to internal and external customers; preparing supporting documentation for grants and scholarships distributions; managing records in database; and preparing reports for various boards, donors and external distribution. 
The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong organizational skills, including high attention to accuracy and detail

  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service

  • Willingness to learn new tasks

  • Positive approach to working with others

  • Strong verbal communication ability

  • Ability to work cooperatively and independently

  • Aptitude for database management

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software


Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Strong computer skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Appreciation for North Carolina’s nonprofit and philanthropic sectors
