2019 Shannon St. John Fellowship
Triangle Community Foundation offers a 10-week paid fellowship each summer to a current graduate student with a demonstrated interest in the nonprofit sector of the Triangle region. The Shannon St. John Fellowship will provide a valuable project-based experience working closely with the Community Engagement team and reporting to the Programs and Engagement Associate. Projects may include assisting with community research, program evaluation, and grant programs. The Fellow will present project results in written or oral reports and will be encouraged to participate in meetings, events, and other activities throughout the summer. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic work environment that is focused on making our region a better place for all residents.
The Fellowship spans ten weeks between May and August 2019 with the Fellow working full-time (40 hours per week during business hours) from our office in RTP. The total stipend will be $5,000.
Eligible candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program. Preference will be given to candidates studying public administration, public policy, nonprofit management, business administration, social work, regional planning, or a related field. Further preference will be for candidates with 1-3 years of experience in the nonprofit sector as an employee or volunteer.
The ideal candidate will have:
*strong analytical and communication skills
*personal initiative and the willingness to work independently and as a team player
*the ability to manage multiple projectsan interest in philanthropy;
*an interest in philanthropy; prior experience at any level is preferred but not required
*a passion for and understanding of public policy
*good computer skills - familiarity with MS Word and Excel required, database knowledge preferred
