SECU Foundation awards seven scholarships

On Monday, June 20, seven students currently in Martin Community College’s (MCC) Nurse Aide I (NA I) program were presented with Bridge to Career Cohort scholarships awarded by the N.C. State Employee Credit Union (SECU) Foundation.  The students will complete the course Aug. 31.

Outer Banks Community Foundation announces two new endowments established for scholarships, worker housing support

The Outer Banks Community Foundation has announced the establishment of two new endowed funds to support Outer Banks students and workers by Nags Head Realtor and philanthropist Karen DelVacchio. As with all endowed funds created at the Community Foundation, the Cookie Jar for Good Deeds Fund and the Helping Hand Cookie Jar Scholarship Fund are structured to be permanent sources of support, providing grants and scholarships in starting in 2023 and continuing for generations to come.

The board of advisers of the Ashe County Community Foundation has awarded $2,180 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund, $4,270 from the Daniel Lee “Dan” Eldreth Memorial Endowment, and $1,810 from the Melinda Hamrick Children’s Fund Endowment.

Jevelyn Bonner-Reed Selected as Executive Director at The Belk Foundation

Charlotte, NC June 29, 2022 – The Belk Foundation announced the selection of Jevelyn Bonner-Reed, as its next executive director to lead the foundation’s investments in public education in North Carolina. Community Foundation of Henderson County Opens Grant Application for Local Artists

Hendersonville, N.C., June 23, 2022 – Community Foundation of Henderson County and the Arts Council of Henderson County are now accepting applications for the Betty Taylor Memorial Award for Emerging Artists in Visual Arts and Crafts. The grant award, funded by Community Foundation of Henderson County, working in tandem with the Arts Council of Henderson County, is designed to fund an artist’s deeper study project that will advance their career as an emerging artist in the field of visual arts and crafts. Applicants may be either emerging artists or established artists and residing or working in Henderson, Polk or Transylvania counties for a minimum of one year prior to April 2022.

John Rex Endowment Awards $900K to Support Racial Equity Capacity Building
