Update from NC DHHS: Medicaid Transformation and Healthy Opportunities

As North Carolina and the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services has battled the COVID-19 pandemic, work has not stopped on the Medicaid transformation and the Healthy Opportunities Pilots. Join Dr. Shannon Dowler, Chief Medical Officer for N.C. Medicaid to learn more about these big changes, and to hear her thoughts on how philanthropy can support the effort. Amanda Van Fleet, Associate Director for Innovation at N.C. Medicaid and Erika Ferguson Walsh, Director of the Office of Healthy Opportunities at NC DHHS will share information about the pilots and other work that will impact your grantees and communities.

Following the session, please stick around for a conversation with your fellow health funders. We’ll reflect on the session and share updates with one another.

NCNG Member Call: Funding Afghanistan's Urgent Needs

As the U.S. completed its withdrawal from Afghanistan, many Afghans in danger were evacuated. North Carolina is gearing up to welcome hundreds of these individuals who have but one goal: to live in safety. These families will need housing, legal assistance, health care, and access to other community supports. In this session, hear an update from CWS Greensboro about resettlement efforts underway, how this work might impact your grantees and community, and what foundations (and individuals!) can do to be of assistance.

After the main session, we hope you’ll join us from 11:10 – 11:45 AM for a facilitated discussion with your grantmaking peers.
